One of the many uses for UTAU is for making covers of songs. You may have come across some of them before reading this section or not!
What's in a cover?
The majority of covers that use UTAU usually consist of the following:
UST (UTAU Sequence Text; more on that later)
Voicebanks (virtual singers that can read USTs)
Instrumental/off vocal
Some UTAU covers may come with a UST available for download, some with a custom instrumental or a mixing file. You can't just throw the above components together and call it a day, as a DAW is recommended to make an UTAU cover sound good.
